JL Candelaria, author of PRETTYblog, works from home as the Creative Director and Manager of Pretty-Bras for Nursing Moms, LLC {PBfNM}. She began working toward accomplishing the company's mission early in 2009; after the birth of her son, True. The company is still in it's start-up phase, with products being developed and tested. She is often heard saying, "I work at the pace of a stay-at-home-mom," and with a smile. She and her husband, Gabe, decided early on that she would raise their children full-time.
Since JL set out to create PRETTY nursing bras in 2009, she has done many things to hone in on her skills, and grow the family business organically. Such things include: taking a variety of business related classes, conducting extensive market and industry research {including travel to NYC and Colombia}, presenting a local fundraising event annually since 2010 {the family 5k walk/run} benefiting Durango Pregnancy Center and Best for Babes Foundation, donating breast milk to MMB of Denver the year following her daughter's birth, and creating a DBA of Pretty-Bras for Nursing Moms, LLC: Pretty by JL, from which products are being sold to fund the development of PBfNM.
JL, Gabe and True were blessed with Elle West, JL and Gabe's daughter, in 2011. JL loves to sit in the yard and drink coffee while the kids play, ride bikes, and write. Gabe works for himself, as a construction consultant and superintendent, and would love to camp, fish, and ride his horse more often. True is extremely thoughtful while being all boy, and Elle West is a patient old soul who's company couldn't be even a fuzz more enjoyable. They live in beautiful Southwest Colorado.
